GET READY!

Kyle and I prefer to bring extra stuff and be prepared for any situation. Also remember to download the maps, we use All Trails with the subscription you have access to the maps even when offline. There is also a free version with a lot of information, you can also screenshot and print or save it in your cellphone.

And ALWAYS tell someone where are you going and what time you are planning to be back etc. I use to say to a friend if I don’t text/call you in the specific time please let someone else to know (make sure to give extra estimate time just in case if some unexpected thing happen).

This is what we usually pack for a day hike in the spring-summer time.

  • Backpack @ospreypacks from @rei - Light, comfortable backpack with rain cover is good option too.
  • Fleece @rei - Warm day I still bring and keep it in backpack, warm and compact to carry.
  • Extra pair of socks - In case if gets wet, keep feet dry to prevent blisters.
  • Hat @patagonia - Always for protection against sun.
  • Headlamp @blackdiamond - No worries of hiking in the dark.
  • Water filter @katadyn_group - Or extra water, keep hydration is SUPER IMPORTANT.
  • Snacks - We bring usually a sandwich + light snacks as bars, mix nuts, fruits.
  • Bear Spray from @costco - Super import item too.
  • Camera @sonyalpha - We love our mirrorless camera, small, easy to carry and use.
  • Batteries - We bring a portable charger, and extra battery for headlights.
  • Knife / Paracord - Essentials itens for rescue, we never know.
  • First aid Kit - Good kit with band-aid, medicines, wipes or alcohol spray for cleaning.
  • Sunscreen - Essential.

There are a lot of options and affordable ones in the market, when I first started I used to buy my gears at Walmart, amazon, e REI.

Get ready, explore and be safe out there!

With these items you will have what you need for a Day hike, with no extra weight in your backpack.
